Pet attacks on the rise?

Are your pets in the Joplin, Carthage and Neosho Missouri area safe? This photo was posted on Facebook by a wildlife control company in New York state. This dog was attacked by a coyote, luckily it survived and the offending animal has been removed, but what happens when the attack happens at a time when the pet owner can't be there to help? Right now coyote mothers in Southwest Missouri are busy trying to keep their pups fed. Most pups should be starting to eat solid food by now, which means mom has to do alot of hunting not only to sustain herself, but also to keep her growing family healthy. This reality can cause coyotes and other predators to start looking for prey in places they normally wouldn't be looking. Pets and livestock often become menu items during this time when mom has to provide lots of protein for her pups. We have been hearing of chickens falling prey to a variety of predators across Newton and Jasper counties. There have also been a few stories of cats and small dogs going missing, have they become a meal for some growing pups? We will probably never know, but if you are experiencing problems with predators harrassing your livestock or pets we can help you resolve the problem. Set up an appointment with one of our wildlfie control technicians today, for all of your wildlife removal and predator control needs in the Joplin, Carthage and Neosho area.
