It doesn't feel much like spring right now in Southwest Missouri. In fact there is snow in the weather forecast for Joplin, Neosho, Carthage and the surrounding areas of Missouri. Even though the outside temperatures don't reflect it, spring is on it's way and with the arrival of spring we will also see some of Missouri's most proficient diggers emerge from hibernation. The month of February starts of with a day dedicated to these large rodents and their ability to predict the arrival of spring. But, can these critters really predict the end of winter or is there something else motivating them as they leave their winter dens?
